Annet Mahendru

Mahendru is the daughter of a Russian mother and Hindu Indian father in Afghanistan. Mahendru speaks fluent German Russian, English and also French Persian and Hindi. Annet Mahendru has a Russian-Indian father. In her early teens she choreographed and performed a dance that led to a German TV appearance. Her performance featured a Russian-born snow maiden that transformed into an entertaining Indian dancer. After high school, she graduated and was awarded a bachelor's degree in English at the University of New York. In her high school years, she took classes in acting at HB however she opted to improvise classes at Groundlings School. She then played a variety of roles in comedy. Her family was brought up within Kabul Afghanistan by a Hindu/Indian father Ghanshan Mahendru, as well as a Russian-speaking mother Olga. The family moved into East Meadow New York, along with her father, when she was 13, and is now starring alongside Matthew Rhys and Keri Russel in FX's The Americans. Her role on FX's The Americans as Nina Sergeevna Krilova is perhaps her most memorable TV performance. The actress was a regular character on the Fox series The Following, and NBC's The Blacklist.
