Nancy O'Dell's initial work in the industry of broadcast was as an anchor and reporter at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She later became a morning news anchor and crime report at WCBD TV. The journalist's report on the lack of responses of police officers to DUI incidents in Charleston led to an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division, that led to a revised directive from state authorities regarding DUI cases. In the year 2000, The Associated Press honored Ms. O'Dell with the Best Report of the Years award in the entirety of South Carolina Media. In the years following her stay living in Charleston, O'Dell worked as an anchor co-host for the NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV as well as an investigative reporter.
